A remote island in Alaska is open during the summer and only a few hardy people stay all winter, as the only in is by boat or seaplane. Josie takes the job as chef at the lodge and is excited to be able to create new dishes with the local food. After the summer she is due to become a chef at a new restaurant opening in Seattle. She meets Palmer a quiet local who lives on the island full time. He turns out to be a swordsmith and is known across the country. They meet and fall in love however she has this job waiting...
