The third and final book of the Hunger Games Trilogy. Each of the books was a quick read and I throughly enjoyed all.
In this story you have Katniss and her family now in District 13. After the bombing of District 12, Gale was able to get her family as well as his family out alive. Peeta has been held at the Capital in an attempt to bring down Katniss. District 12 now has food and shelter and clothes. The drawback is they live underground in District 13. This is hard for Katniss, who is used to hunting and being outside. The war between the Districts and the Capital is heating up. They want Katniss to be the symbol of the rebellion, the Mockingjay. Cinna the stylist that helped Katniss with her outfits for the Hunger Games and the Quarter Quell, has made an amazing costume and weapons.
What happens? Does the rebellion work? Does Katniss and her family and friends survive?

CATCHING FIRE part 2 of the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Another excellent book by Suzanne. I could hardly put it down. This is one of a few series of stories that the sequels are as good as the original.
The story picks up with Katniss and Peeta and all the original gang. We pick up as they are about to go on the victory tour. Katniss and Peeta have not been as close as when they were "playing" in the games. They had a falling out over the pretend love affair. Katniss has tried to repair her friendship with Gale, with not much luck. Gale is now working the mines and Katniss is hunting to provide for his family. This is the 75th year after the revolution and that means that mid year the have the Quarter Quell, and this year they pick participates from the previous victors from each district.
It appears that Katniss and Peeta have started an uprising with the first games, what will happen?

CYPRESS POINT by Diane Chamberlain
Another excellent book by Diane.
This is the story of identical twin girls Carlynn and Lisbeth. They are treated different from the start, their mother nay wanting one child. She showers attention on Carlynn the first born, and ignores Lisbeth. Even to the point of putting them in separate private schools, where of course Carlynn's school was far and above Lisbeths. The story goes back and forth from their story to present day. It seems that Carlynn has a gift of healing. While helping a childhood friend of hers, who was staying at a commune while she was trying to recover her voice; she helped save a baby. Shanti Joy, who is the girl in the present day story.

THE SECRET LIFE OF CEECEE WILKES by Diane Chamberlain
Another interesting book by Diane Chamberlain.
CeeCee Wilkes is an orphan and a high school graduate at the young age of 16. She is a waitress with goals set. She meets a college graduate student who is one of her customers. She falls hard for him. Tim Gleason has an evil plan he and his brother came up with to get their sister out of prison. Needless to say he talks CeeCee into helping them. She does not feel right about helping, but does decide to go along with their plan. The brothers are going to kidnap the governors wife, and while CeeCee watches her; will negotiate with the governor.
But, she is pregnant and goes into labor. Follow along CeeCee's life on the run.
It was an interesting story. However, I couldn't stay focused on it for long periods of time.

Katniss' father and a member of Gale's family were killed in the mines. They are doing everything they can do to keep their families alive
A yearly event is the Hunger Games, a "game" the Capitol puts on to keep the districts in line. Each child from age 12-18. Each year your name goes in and goes up in the amount of entries. You can add entries for extra food for the year. They pick a girl and boy from each district to participate in the hunger games. Where the winner is the last child standing alive. Katniss has a sister, Prim; this is her first year to be in the drawing. Her name is called, Katniss volunteers to go in her sisters place
There is a lot of pomp and pageantry leading up to the games. But, once you are in the arena you are on your own. Having to live on the land in an arena where the weather and everything around you can be manipulated.

FRIENDS FOREVER by Danielle Steel
I really enjoyed this book. Another quick read. Do you have friends that you have known since kindergarden? Then this is the book for you.
It is the first day of kindergarden at a private school. Three boys and two girls become fast friends on day one. They remain best friends all the way through school. Through the ups and downs and after graduation they head off to follow their dreams. They remain very close and see each other and talk and text frequently.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, ALEX CROSS by James Patterson
Another winner by James. A quick read and I like the short chapters.
Alex Cross just wants to spend Christmas at home with his family. But, his job gets in the way. First on Christmas Eve a man takes his family and others hostage and it takes the night to get him into custody. Add in a blizzard-which is not normal for DC and it's a pretty long tiring night. Alex finally gets home and enjoys some time with his family only to be called in on another problem. This time it is a terrorist. He spends the rest of Christmas into the 26th trying to stop this
