LIGHTNING by Danielle Steel

A very quick read.  What would you do if your spouse got cancer?  Would you stay or run?  Alexandra is a high power lawyer in NYC and her husband Sam is a well known venture capitalist.  Life is good they have a three year old daughter and help by a housekeeper that watches their daughter while they work.  Then one day during a routine exam a mass is discovered which leads to surgery and a cancer diagnosis.  Sam can not handle it and stays away as much as possible and is angry with her for being sick, just like his mother had been.  One thing leads to another and he starts an affair. 

This story showed me how blessed I am.

A quick and easy read.  A small town, police, murder and romance.  Kilraven is an FBI agent and is working with a small town police force.  Winnie is one of the dispatchers although she does not  need to work for that matter neither does Kilraven.  Kilravens wife and daughter were brutally murdered and he is still hunting for their killer.

HEAVEN AND EARTH-Second of the Three Sisters Trilogy by Nora Roberts

This is the story of Ripley, one of the three witches on Three Sisters Island.  She does not want anything to do with it however.  A nerdy researcher arrives on the island, to study the stories about the witches.  Rip is trying hard to contain her power after using it to help her sister in law by protecting her against her abusive husband-soon to be ex husband.  Rtp grows close to the researcher and they come to mean a lot to each other. Little do they know a reporter is hot on the trail hoping to score a big novel out of the events. 

This story did not hold me like the first one did.

A different type read for me.  Three Sisters Island is said to have been made by Three Witches, where the land broke off and became an island off the east coast.  The story is about Mia, a witch who owns a bookstore and cafe, Ripley, a witch who is a cop and Nell, soon to discover she is a witch and running from her past.  What will happen?

Holly finally persuades her parents to buy a plantation that is need of work and is owned by her childhood crush.  She still has fantasies about them getting together.  The fact that she works with preserving old homes is a plus.  She meets a man who appears to be a man with no ambition.  However he is a Doctor and his family is quite wealthy  having tired of women after him just because of his wealth he keeps that secret.  There are twists in this novel.

TEA AND DESTINY by Sherryl Woods

A wonderful story set in the Florida Keys.  Ann has a lot of kids and is a therapist, her kids are foster kids.  Hank is a contractor and their mutual friends suggest that Hank rent a room from Ann while he oversees a construction project.  The kids are a bit much for him to handle to start with.  He soon gets into the rhythm .

Two stories in one book.
The Real Thing = the story of two strangers that are knowingly stranded together on an island by a mutual friend.  Their friend owns the island and home and each has requested use of the home to sort out some things.  In the beginning they are at war with each other.  Can they last?

Secret of the Stone = Paige creates beautiful sculptures and is in NY for a showing-which she would rather not have to do.  She would rather be back at her beach house. She meets a man who ends up following her home.  Will anything happen?

DREAM MENDER by Sherryl Woods

Another hit by Sherryl.  An interesting story that takes you into the day to day of someone recovering from burn injuries.  Frank worked creating beautiful pieces of work out of wood.  However one day there was a fire that seriously injured his hands=his livelihood was in jeopardy.  He is not the best patient and is quite upset about everything.  His therapist is not about to let that stop her.  Along the way Frank meets another burn victim a young girl who is more injured than he is.
Can Frank regain the use of his hands enough to continue working?
